Somerset Parent Carer Forum (SPCF) is an independent, parent-led organisation supporting families of children and young people aged 0 to 25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) in Somerset. We provide information, guidance, SEND navigation, workshops, peer support, and opportunities for parent carers to influence local services. Our aim is to help families understand their options, access appropriate support, and feel confident navigating education, health, and social care systems. Support is available whether a child has a diagnosis or is awaiting assessment.

Somerset Parent Carer Forum (SPCF) is an independent, parent-led organisation supporting families of children and young people aged 0 to 25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) across Somerset. All of our staff and volunteers have lived experience as parent carers. We provide information, guidance, training, peer support, and opportunities for parent carers to influence and improve local services. Our aim is to help families feel informed, confident, and supported as they navigate education, health, and social care systems.

Information and Resources: Access to local and national organisations, guidance, signposting, and practical resources for parent carers and professionals, including a SEND book lending library, a downloadable copy of Supporting Your Neurodivergent Child and a list of places that you can access with your child or young person.

Who can use this service?
Parent carers living in Somerset who have a child or young person aged 0 to 25 with additional needs, disabilities, or special educational needs. Support is available whether needs are diagnosed, undiagnosed, or currently being assessed.
How are services delivered?
Services are delivered through telephone and email support, online and face-to-face workshops, SEND Navigator appointments, support groups, community events, information resources, and referrals to appropriate services where needed. Support is offered across Somerset, with a combination of virtual and in-person opportunities to meet the needs of families.
