Age UK Somerset - Toenail Cutting Service
Age UK Somerset offers a basic toenail cutting service for people aged 55 and over living in Somerset. Delivered by friendly, fully trained staff, the service helps maintain comfort, mobility and foot health. Regular toenail care can prevent discomfort and reduce the risk of falls caused by overgrown nails. The service is available for as long as you need it, whether on a short-term or ongoing basis. Appointments last approximately 25-30 minutes usually four times a year, that is every three months. There is a cost for this service.

What are the costs? This clinic-based service costs £25 per appointment.
There is also a one-off charge of £15 for a personal nail care kit (including clippers and a nail file), which belongs to the individual and is used for future appointments.
Our service offers an affordable and cost-effective way to maintain healthy, well-trimmed toenails when compared with private chiropody treatments.
Payment can be made by cash or cheque at the time of treatment.

Who can use this service?
This clinic-based service is available to people aged 55 and over living in Somerset who have difficulty cutting their own toenails due to limited mobility, reduced hand strength, or difficulty reaching their feet.
The service is also available to people with diabetes (provided they have had a foot check within the last 12 months with no identified concerns) and those living with dementia. We recommend that clients with dementia attend with a familiar companion.
